Lake Byllesby Regional Park

Seasonal Updates:

Lake Byllesby Beach: Open to swimming through Labor Day, September 7. View Lake Byllesby Beach Page.​
Nonmotorized Boat Launch: Open.
Motorized Boat Launch: Open for the season.
Splash Pad: Open now through Monday, May 25. Planned closure: The splash pad will be closed from May 26- mid June for a maintenance project.​

Harry Ave and Mill Towns State Trail construction: The trail connection to the Mill Towns State Trail and road to the Byllesby Dam Trailhead in Lake Byllesby Regional Park is currently under construction through mid-June 2026. Vehicle and trail access will remain open to users during the project. There may be intermittent, short-term closures while equipment is in use. Cyclists will need to walk their wheels around the area. Please follow all signs and use caution when passing through the work area. For more information, visit the project webp​a​ge.​

Trailhead closure: The Miesville Ravine Park Reserve Trailhead is closed for construction through November 2026. This closure is due to the Miesville Ravine Park Reserve Site Imp​rovement project.​

Thompson County Park     

Temporary Trail Closure: A portion of the paved trail and park access from Sperl Street south of Thompson Lake will be temporarily closed for pedestrian ramp improvements between May 25^th and June 5th. This closure is due to the City of West St. Paul 2026 Mill and Overlay project. ​

Temporary Trail Closure: A portion of the paved trail south of Thompson Lake is closed for the Pollinator Promenade and Stream Restoration project through early summer 2026. See project page.​

UMORE PARK-The Lone Rock Trail

UMORE Park is owned and operated by the University of Minnesota.  No parking fee is  required for parking. The trail is open from sunrise to sunset with the exception of a 10 a.m. opening time during the months of May and October (this is to minimize disturbance to spring turkey hunters and fall archery deer hunters during prime hunting periods). The Lone Rock Trail is a multi-use trail. Hiking, dogs on leash, skiing and snowshoeing are all permitted on the trail.

Temporary Trail Closure: Effective 5/20/2026, due to wet conditions on the Lone Rock Trail, a western portion of the trail will be temporarily closed until repairs or rerouting of the trail is completed. Trail closed signs are posted along the affected area of the trial. For more information please call your local DNR Wildlife office at 651-322-4643.​

Big Rivers Regional Trail

Trail closure: The Lone Oak Trailhead, the parking lot and a short segment of the nearby trail is closed for bridge construction. The trail may be accessed at the Big Rivers Trailhead. The construction area is closed to the public and is anticipated to last until summer 2026. View Minnesota River Greenway project page.

Mississippi River Greenway 

Trail Closure: Pine Bend Trailhead to 117th Street Closure map.​​​​
The trail will remain closed between the Pine Bend Trailhead and 117th Street until repairs can be completed later in 2026. Due to heavy traffic on nearby roads, there is no detour provided after reviewing traffic volumes​. The previous detour was intended only as a temporary route​.​

Canoes, kayaks and paddleboards are available for rent during the summer season at the Lebanon Hills Visitor Center for use in Lebanon Hills Regional Park.​ Online reservation can be made up to seven days in advance.​

All rentals include paddles and lifejackets.

• Canoes and kayaks: $12 per hour
  
• Premium portaging canoes: $35 per half day (four hours or less), $55 full day (more than four hours)
  
• Stand up paddleboards​: $17 per hour
  
• Late return fee (equipment returned after the reservation period is subject to a late return fee): $20​

Lake Byllesby Regiona​l Park equipment rental

Canoes and solo, sit-on-top kayaks are available to rent at the Lake Byllesby Campground office  for use at Lake Byllesby Regional Park.

Watercraft keys and equipment must be returned to the campground office nightly by 6:30 p.m.

• Late return of equipment​ will be charged the hourly rate​
  

Group rates

None. There are no group discounts or reduced rates.

Group reservations

Available at Lebanon Hills Regional Park only. Equipment rental available to organized groups by reservation only. Accommodation is based on advance notice and availability. To inquire, contact the Lebanon Hills Visitor Center at 651-554-6530.
