Aron Isait Medina Rojas, 20 of Minneapolis, was charged* by a warrant complaint on July 8 with one count of second-degree intentional murder in connection with the death of Daniel Isaac Aguilar of Apple Valley, announced Dakota County Attorney Kathy Keena.
According to court documents, on July 6 shortly after 3 a.m., Apple Valley officers were dispatched to a residential street on the report of an unresponsive man lying on the sidewalk. When officers arrived, they found 21-year-old Aguilar covered in blood with an apparent chest wound. Despite lifesaving efforts, Aguilar died at the scene.
Officers obtained surveillance video from the surrounding area. After reviewing the video footage, at 2:40 a.m. they observed Medina Rojas walk towards Aguilar and then hit him in both the chest area and throat. Aguilar collapsed on the sidewalk.
An autopsy was performed by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office. The cause of death was determined to be multiple sharp force injuries and the manner of death was determined to be homicide.
