Dakota County can issue a renewed or duplicate Minnesota Driver’s License or Identification Card. No first-time driver’s license/permit or identification card applications can be accepted at Dakota County locations.
Renewals require the applicant to take a vision test and have a photo taken. Proper identification must be present.
Duplicates are issued to replace a lost or stolen valid Driver’s License or Identification Card. They may also be issued for address and name changes.

The Burnsville, Lakeville and Robert Trail license centers and Administration Center will be unable to provide vehicle renewal registration, title transfers, and driver’s license transactions from Thursday, July 20 through Monday, July 24 as the state’s Department of Vehicle Services replaces their computer system.
