Fingerprinting is offered by the Dakota County Sheriff's Office to the general public. We do not fingerprint PCAs for the Department of Human Services NetStudy. The county uses standard FD-258 fingerprint cards and FBI-certified hardware. There are three types of services available.
-
General public – This is for services such as adoption, employment qualification, permit to carry, and medical or teaching license requirements.
-
Court bookings – This is residents with an official letter for fingerprinting, booking order, suspense notification or other request for booking from courts or probation.
-
County contractors and employees – This is specifically for contractors and employees of Dakota County who are required to complete a background prior to work or service.
Cost
Only the general public pays fees for fingerprinting services. The fee is $20 payable by cash (change available), check or money order. Credit card payment available at Hastings location only.
There are no fees for court bookings or county contractors and employees.
