On Saturday, July 13th at 5:30 p.m. the Dakota County Sheriff's Office and the Lakeville Police and Fire Departments responded to a potential drowning on Lake Marion at Antlers Park in Lakeville. Witnesses reported two men on an inflatable device outside the designated swimming area. According to witnesses, a wave from a nearby boat caused both to fall into the water. Neither of the men could swim. A bystander entered the water and rescued a 19-year-old man. The second victim submerged before he could be rescued and did not resurface.
At approximately, 8:00 p.m., the Sheriff's Office dive team located the victim roughly 40 yards offshore in eight feet of water. He was identified as 26-year-old Reynaldo Antonio Patishtan Hernandez from Northfield.
We thank and commend the bystander for his heroic, lifesaving efforts of the 19-year-old and extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Mr. Patishtan Hernandez.
