Heritage Library and the Friends of the Heritage Library will feature “The Jilted Countess" by award-winning author Loretta Ellsworth as its 2026 OneBook, OneLakeville selection. Several events are planned around the book, including a main event that will be moderated by best-selling author Lorna Landvik.
OneBook, OneLakeville is a citywide event that promotes reading, lifelong learning and community by encouraging everyone to read the same book and enjoy related events.
Ellsworth, who has published books for youth and young adults, based “The Jilted Countess" on the true story of a desperate and penniless Hungarian countess. She arrives in Minnesota after World War II to find her GI fiancé already married. With only two weeks to avoid returning to war-torn Europe, she enlists a local newspaperman to help her find a husband.
Main event
OneBook, OneLakeville will be held Saturday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Lakeville Area Arts Center. Tickets are free but must be reserved prior to the event from the Arts Center website or by calling 952-985-4640. More information can be found on the OneBook OneLakeville page. Books will be available for sale. A book-signing will follow the event.
