The Dakota County Board of Commissioners appointed Dr. Michael Favor to the Dakota-Scott Workforce Development Board. Favor will represent the public education sector.
Favor is superintendent of Intermediate School District 917, where he leads the district's community engagement efforts, oversees district accountability and achievement, manages state and federal programs and budgets, and more.
Favor has multiple degrees and certifications, including from St. Cloud State University, Hamline University and North Dakota State University. He has extensive experience in education and has held various positions at Roseville Area Schools, Minneapolis Southwest High School, Minneapolis North Community High Schools, Monticello Public Schools, Robbinsdale Area Schools and Robbinsdale Cooper High School.
“I am interested in being part of the solution of creating pathways for employment and career advancement for alternative learning students and students with disabilities in Dakota County," Favor said of his appointment.
The Dakota-Scott Workforce Development Board oversees employment and training programs in Dakota and Scott counties. It is a state leader in developing innovative programs administered through CareerForce locations in Burnsville, Shakopee and West St. Paul.
