The Dakota County Historical Society will host a public update meeting on a proposed Black Heritage Trail on Tuesday, May 19 from 5:30–7 p.m. at the Tilden Community Center in Hastings. The proposed Black Heritage Trail is a partnership between the Dakota County Historical Society and Building Remembrance for Reconciliation.
The Tilden Community Center is located at 310 River Street in Hastings. The event will start at 5:30 p.m. and is open free to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
The proposed trail will explore the history of Hastings' early Black residents through interpretive signage around the community. The trail proposes three distinct zones that signage will be placed. The zones include residential, river and downtown. The meeting will provide an update by the partners and design team working on this project, sharing the research completed as well as proposed locations for signage.
