The Dakota County Historical Society has three summer internship opportunities available at their historic sites. Students interested in the opportunities should send the required materials to the Dakota County Historical Society by April 4 to be included in the first round of reviews. Applications will be accepted until all the internship positions are filled.
To learn more about the internship opportunities, please visit the Dakota County Historical Society website. The LeDuc Historic Estate is located at 1629 Vermillion Street in Hastings and the Sibley Historic Site is located at 1357 Sibley Memorial Hwy. in Mendota.
The internships will take place at either the LeDuc Historic Estate or Sibley Historic Site. The internships at the LeDuc Estate include at least one shift as a tour guide and working within the collections of the site. This includes cataloging and accessioning a portion of the more than 1,600 artifacts recently acquired at the site.
The Sibley Site has two opportunities available. The first internship includes researching the connections between the families of Henry Sibley and William LeDuc. The second internship will be to research the history of slavery in the Mendota area. Both internships also require at least one shift as a tour guide.
