It was brought to Dakota County's attention that a person posing as a county employee made an explicit racist social media comment on June 26. Dakota County believes the comment was made by an imposter — not the employee named in the account.
Following an internal review of the matter, including an interview with the employee who was targeted, it is believed the Instagram account was created by an unknown individual and not the employee.
We have received numerous reports from the public about the posts. Others have contacted the employee directly. We ask the public to refrain from contacting the employee directly about this situation.
Dakota County condemns racism and supports all of our community members — no matter their race, religion or sexual orientation.
