Dakota County and the City of Burnsville are replacing the traffic signal and making intersection improvements at County Road 5 and Southcross Drive.
The final work will improve intersection operations and includes:
- Replacement of existing traffic signal systems
- Pedestrian and ADA improvements
- Drainage improvements
Road closures and detours
Work will take place on the four corners and in the median. Traffic control devices and warnings will be placed in advance of construction. Expect delays and lane closures. Please exercise caution for your own safety and construction workers' safety.
Construction progress
Private utility companies will begin relocating their facilities starting in late April 2026.
Road work is scheduled to begin with setting up traffic control, installing erosion control and preparing for replacement of signal system and improvement construction.
