Dakota County and the City of Burnsville are designing a new 10-foot multiuse trail along the north side of County Road 42 (Eagan Drive). The project is from County Road 5 to Nicollet Avenue.
This project will:
- Replace narrow sidewalks with a wide, shared-use trail
- Improve trail crossings at roadways and driveways
- Provide safer, more accessible connections for pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit users
This segment serves as a high-priority link to key destinations, including:
- Burnsville Center
- Nicollet Commons
- Minnesota Valley Transit Authority system
- Surrounding residential and commercial neighborhoods
This project was prioritized in the
County Road 42 and County Road 5 Trail Gap Preliminary Study. It will be funded by the Metropolitan Council's Transportation Advisory Board.
