The Dakota County Board of Commissioners have appointed James (Jimmy) Francis to the Dakota-Scott Workforce Development Board. Francis will represent the private sector.
Francis, who is the South St. Paul mayor, works as an employee benefits broker with Assured Partners of Minnesota. He works with employers, employees and other stakeholders to deliver cost-effective employee group benefit plans. Francis has work history in the public and private sectors. He was involved with numerous nonprofits and local organizations, including Neighbors, Inc., Guild, Inc., the South St. Paul Mayor's Youth Task Force, Rotary Club, Kaposia Days Festival and the Winter Carnival. Francis brings a range of business and public knowledge that will be helpful as the board addresses workforce issues throughout Dakota and Scott counties.
The Dakota-Scott Workforce Development Board oversees employment and training programs in Dakota and Scott counties. It is a state leader in developing innovative programs administered through CareerForce locations in Burnsville, Shakopee and West St. Paul.
