Each board member serves a two-year term and can serve a maximum of three consecutive terms for the organization. As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, the Historical Society helps make Dakota County history available and accessible to all.
“The organization is excited for what is to come," said Executive Director Matt Carter. “We just completed a $1.2 million renovation of the Lawshe Museum in South St. Paul and have funding to provide more needed upgrades to the space. We finished our tour season at the LeDuc Estate and Sibley Site and had great turnouts for our seasonal Halloween events at the sites. Other exciting projects we have ongoing is our George Daniels Project at the LeDuc Estate and our Black Heritage Trail Project in Hastings. For the Lawshe Museum, we are excited for to soon begin the final design of a children's exhibit that can be used to fundraise for the needed costs to fabricate and install."
