Dakota County Parks is temporarily closing public access to Holland Lake in Lebanon Hills Regional Park effective Friday, Jan. 12.
Due to thin ice conditions and in light of the annual Minnesota trout opener on Saturday, Jan. 13, public access to Holland Lake will remain closed until ice conditions improve. Though the forecast calls for subzero temperatures, weeks of unseasonably warm weather has resulted in unsafe ice conditions.
Thin ice conditions also exist throughout the Dakota County Park system. Please stay off all lakes, rivers and streams until ice conditions improve. Remember: Ice is never 100-percent safe. For updates on Holland Lake access, visit the Trail Conditions page.
For ice safety information, including ways to check ice thickness, visit the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources website.
