Wentworth Library in West. St. Paul will close Monday, April 7, for a full renovation. The renovated library is expected to reopen in spring 2026.
A temporary library will be available beginning Monday, April 14 on the second floor at the Dakota County Northern Service Center, 1 Mendota Road W., West. St. Paul. Library customers will be able to check out holds, browse and return materials in an outside return bin at this location during the remodel. For full library service, customers are encouraged to visit a nearby Dakota County Library location, such as Kaposia Library in South St. Paul or Inver Glen Library in Inver Grove Heights.
The renovated library will feature expanded spaces for meetings and study groups, and updates to zones dedicated for children and teens. It will also include a quiet reading area, and more study and meeting spaces. Other improvements will be improved accessibility such as a relocated service desk and lower bookshelves, technology to support virtual meetings, renovated and relocated restrooms, new furniture, and more efficient building systems such as security, electrical, heating and cooling.
The renovation will mark the first major upgrade to the 32-year-old Wentworth Library since 2008.
