County Road 86 (280th Street) from Garrett Avenue to Highway 3 (Chippendale Avenue) reconstruction project will continue this summer. The project will include the addition of 8-foot shoulders, turn and bypass lanes at public intersections and drainage improvements from County Road 23 (Galaxie Avenue) to Highway 3 (Chippendale Avenue). Within Castle Rock, the improved County Road 86 will have one travel lane in each direction, a continuous center turn lane, and curb and gutter with storm sewer.
The replacement of the existing trestle railroad bridge in Castle Rock is also included in the reconstruction project. The bridge replacement includes increasing the vertical clearance to state standards, a design without a center pier and increasing the opening width to improve sight lines and safety.
