County Project 42-174
Dakota County is working on the final design phase on a segment of County Road 42. The project will upgrade the interchange area by widening County Road 42 and the ramps to and from Highway 52.
The existing highway has a documented crash history. The project will improve operations of the interchange ramps. It Includes adding signals, widening the ramps and adding more turn lanes.

Public open house – Aug. 25, 2025
A public open house will be held on Monday, Aug. 25, 2025 from 4-6 p.m. at:
Rosemount Public Works Building
14041 Biscayne Ave., Rosemount
The open house is an opportunity to meet with the project team to learn more about the project goals, the current improvement plans and provide input on the future of County Road 42.
Tentative project timeline
- August 2024: Begin data collection and design
- June 2025: Final geometric layout
- Summer 2025: Public open house
- October 2025: Final plans
- December 2025: Project bidding
- 2026: Construction
