County Project 73-35
Dakota County and the City of Inver Grove Heights are designing and constructing a 0.5-mile segment of trail. It will go on the east side of Babcock Trail between Upper 55th Street and Interstate 494.
Project background
A 2017 feasibility study considered many pedestrian and bicycle improvements. A 10-foot multi-use trail on the east side of Babcock Trail was recommended.
Project overview
The City of Inver Grove Heights is leading the trail and related improvements. The final design is expected to include:
- Changes to existing stormwater facilities
- A retaining wall
- ADA improvements
- Bus stop improvements
- Changes to the roadway shoulder.
Design work and right of way acquisition is expected to continue through 2024. Construction is planned for 2025.
Public open house - Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024
A public open house will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at the Veterans Memorial Community Center, Room 1, 8055 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights. The open house will share information on the project plan and construction.
