The Lake Marion Greenway travels 20 miles through Burnsville, Savage, Credit River Township, Lakeville and Farmington. The greenway will link the Minnesota River and the Minnesota River Greenway to Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve, Ritter Farm Park, Lake Marion, downtown Lakeville, South Creek and downtown Farmington. It will connect with the North Creek Greenway in Farmington.
The project will develop a feasibility study and preliminary design report for about 1.75 miles of the Lake Marion Greenway. It includes segment three and segment four as identified in the
2013 Lake Marion Greenway Master Plan from west of Holyoke Avenue to Cedar Avenue (County Road 23).
The project will identify a preferred trail alignment, South Creek bridge crossings and a grade-separated crossing design of Cedar Avenue. Other amenities will include:
- Safety and accessibility improvements of the trail crossings at Hamburg Avenue and Holyoke Avenue
- Connections to local trails and sidewalks
- Seating
- Wayfinding and interpretive signage
- Landscaping
- Other features consistent with Dakota County Greenway Standards
Preliminary design, environmental assessment, survey and engineering work and the public engagement process will begin spring 2022 and extend through summer 2023. More updates will be posted here as they become available.
