The Lebanon Hills Greenway travels 8.5 miles through Mendota Heights, Inver Grove Heights and Eagan. The greenway will connect Lebanon Hills Regional Park to the River to River Greenway and Veterans Memorial Greenway.
The project will complete final design plans for about 4.1 miles of the Lebanon Hills Greenway. This section, known as Segment 2 in the 2013 Mendota–Lebanon Hills Greenway Master Plan, runs from Highway 55 to Cliff Road.
The project will identify a preferred trail alignment in gap areas, recommend improvements to existing trail segments, and design a grade-separated crossing of Highway 55. It will also include the design of a new trail connection from the Cliff and Dodd road intersection to the Lebanon Hills Regional Park Visitor Center. Other features will include:
- Safety and accessibility improvements at local street crossings
- Connections to nearby trails, sidewalks and park facilities
- Wayfinding and interpretive signs
- Landscaping
- Additional features that follow Dakota County greenway standards
Final design, right of way, and public engagement will continue in summer 2026 through spring 2027. Construction is expected to start in spring 2027. Additional updates — including opportunities for public input — will be posted as they become available.
