Building and maintaining energy-efficient buildings, operating fuel-efficient vehicles, and increasing recycling are just a few of the energy saving initiatives underway in Dakota County. The County’s 2009 Energy Efficiency and Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Report includes goals that focus on a variety of ongoing energy-saving priorities.
Dakota County was the first county in the state to complete a greenhouse gas inventory, measuring the amount of greenhouse gases produced by county operations. This inventory will serve as a baseline to help guide County efforts to improve energy and fuel efficiencies, promote alternative transportation, and explore renewable energy options to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save money.
