According to Minnesota Pollution Control Agency rules, septic tanks need to be pumped at least once every three years to remove excess accumulation of sludge, grease and scum.
You may receive a reminder from Dakota County. Septic pumpers are required to submit monthly pump logs to Dakota County, and records are updated accordingly. If you received a reminder letter and you have recently had your tank pumped, or if any information on the letter (name, address, etc.) needs to be updated, please contact the Environmental Resources Department by phone at 952-891-7000 or email
environ@co.dakota.mn.us.
Septic system maintainers can submit their pump logs electronically through the Dakota County Online Pump Database.
