Indoor Walking Options

​​There are many indoor walking options during the winter in Dakota County. Some of the schools and community centers are free and some require a free. If you have a question about a walking space, please follow up with the organization.

​Burnsv​ille Center

Mall Walking for Fitness is free. Walk laps indoors before or after shopping for an easy cardio boost. It's temperature-controlled and perfect for rainy days.

  • Monday–Saturday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
  • Sundays, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Eagan Community Center

Walkers must purchase a visit track punch pass. $8 per session/per person or a 10-session pass for $70.

  • Monday-Friday, 6 a.m.-9 p.m.
  • Saturdays, 7 a.m.-8 p.m.

Farmingt​​on Public Schools

Farmington has free walking options at a few of their schools.

  • Boeckman Middle School: Monday-Friday during the school year, 4:30-9 p.m.
  • Dodge Middle School: Monday-Friday during the school year, 4:30-9 p.m.
  •  Farmington High School: Monday-Friday during the school year, 4:30-9 p.m. (not available on game nights with admission fee)

Has​tings

Hastings has walking passes that are $25 per person per school year. There are $10 passes for Senior Center members and Adult with Disabilities Program participants.

Hastings High School - Field House Upper Walking Track

  • Monday-Friday, 6-7 a.m. and 3-10 p.m.
  • Saturdays, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

Inver Gro​​ve Heights

Indoor walking is at the middle school is free. It is not available on school holidays or breaks. The program is only available to Inver Grove Heights ISD 199 residents who are 18 years and older.

Inver Grove Heights Middle School

  • ​Monday-Friday, 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Rose​mount

The Hope Fieldhouse has an indoor walking track. Walking Track pu​nch cards are available for purchase — ​$25 for five passes or $40 for 10 passes. Membership is not required to get a walking pass.​

Veterans Memorial Community Center

Indoor walking and running is available to all members and daily admission users (18 years and older). Athletic shoes required. The center allows strollers, small children in carriers and wheelchairs. The track is 1/16 of a mile long and circles the fitness center. Children who are members and supervised by an adult can walk or run on the track as long as they do not disturb our other guests.​

West St​. Paul

Regional Athletics Center offers free walking and jogging.

  • Mondays, 7 a.m.-9 a.m.
  • Tuesday-Friday, 7 a.m.–noon​
