Update to service method for civil summons
Beginning Jan. 1, 2025, Property Taxation & Records no longer can accept civil summons on behalf of Dakota County. The civil summons must be delivered in person to the Dakota County Attorney's Office.
This is a change to the Minnesota Rules of Civil Procedure Rule 4.03 (e) (1). It does not affect the service of summons or other types of legal documents such as subpoenas on county employees.
Service instructions
- Go to the Dakota County Attorney's Office located at:
Judicial Center
1560 Highway 55, Second Floor, Hastings
- All visitors must pass through point of entry screening before entering the building. For details, visit the Security Screening web page.
