The Dakota County One-Day DWI program provides a timely and research-based response for people who have received a DWI for the first time. The primary goal of the program is to prevent repeat offenses through education, skill-building, assessment and referral to additional services as needed.
The program combines information about the physical effects of alcohol and drug consumption, the laws pertaining to impaired driving, cognitive therapy, stress management skills, self–assessment and a victim impact panel.
This program must be completed within 90 days of sentencing.
