County Project 42-174
Dakota County is beginning the final design phase on a segment of County Road 42. The project will reconstruct the interchange area and segments between Akron Avenue and Highway 52.
The existing highway has a documented crash history. The project will improve operations of the interchange ramps. It Includes adding signals, widening the ramps and adding more turn lanes.

Public open house – spring 2025
A public open house will be held later in spring 2025. This public house is an opportunity to meet with the project team to learn more about the project goals and provide input on the future of County Road 42.
Tentative project timeline
- August 2024: Begin data collection and design
- February 2025: Final geometric layout
- Spring 2025: Public open house
- June 2025: Final plans
- October 2025: Project bidding
- 2026: Construction
