Youth members of Dakota County Citizen Advisory Committees get to advise the County Board on issues that matter to Dakota County residents. They also get the opportunity to connect with County Commissioners and high-level staff and learn more about what a County does.
Dakota County is currently accepting applications for appointment to four new youth-specific seats on its Citizen Advisory Committees, two on the Public Art Citizen Advisory Committee and two on the Library Advisory Committee.
Complete an application form.
To be eligible for appointment on a committee, youth applicants must:
- Live in Dakota County during their term.
- Be a sophomore, junior or senior in high school (or home school equivalent).
Terms run from January–December (sometimes someone is appointed mid-year if there is a vacancy).
Youth members commit to one-year terms, with an option for a one-year extension (two years maximum).
Youth members receive $35 per meeting to reimburse them for their time — same as adult committee members.
Contact Claire Pritchard, Assistant to the County Manager, at email@example.com if you are interested in participating in a committee but are concerned about how you would get there.
