Judges can order offenders to pay restitution to victims to cover monetary losses resulting from crimes. Community Corrections staff is responsible for investigating the victims’ losses, determining appropriate amounts owed by offenders, then making restitution recommendations to the Court.
Offenders work with their probation officers and the Court to pay restitution. Victims receive restitution checks from Dakota County District Court.
