Dakota County and the City of Farmington will make pedestrian improvements on County Road (Elm Street). The project is from the Vermillion River bridge to Third Street. Construction is planned during summer 2026.
The project will:
- Increase pedestrian safety at intersections
- Improve pedestrian and bicycle accommodations
- Slow vehicle traffic
A study of existing crossing conditions was performed in 2024. It included traffic volumes, area development, crash history, pedestrian volumes and other key factors was performed. This study evaluated options for increasing safety at the intersections of Elm Street and Division Street, First Street, the railway tracks, Second Street, and Third Street.
