Burning trash is illegal
Burning garbage is illegal because it harms our air, land and water and everyone that lives here.
Today’s garbage contains plastics, metals, dyes and chemicals that, when burned, release hazardous toxins that pollute our air, settle on our land and in our water, and are ingested by you, your family, your pets and other animals. Burning garbage — including cardboard boxes and treated wood — is against the law. Violators can face fines up to $1,000 and up to 90 days in jail.
