Performances and Field Trips

Page Content

Performances and field trip busing are now available. Schools should confirm field trip location availability.

Dakota County provides opportunities for schools to enhance student and staff recycling knowledge through free in-person recycling education performances and free field trip busing service to approved recycling, composting and land disposal destinations. Schools may submit request forms once per school year for each opportunity.

Tricia and the Toonies Enviro-Fun Show (Grades K–3)

Enjoy an in-school interactive experience with puppet characters and music to inspire students to reduce, reuse, recycle and rethink their actions. Performances are available for grades K–3 once per school year. Multiple performances may be requested per school to accommodate student or space capacity. Performances require reserved space for about 2.5 hours. A minimum of 50 (and up to 250) students must attend each 45-minute performance.

Field Trip Busing (Grade 4 and School Green Teams)

Visit working facilities to see where recycling, organics and trash materials end up. Attendees will see equipment and technology in action, learn about what happens to these materials, and develop a closer connection to how their actions matter. Field trip busing is available for all fourth grade students, Green Team students (i.e., environmental club) in fifth grade and above, adult chaperones, and school staff once per school year. A minimum of 25 participants is required. Field trips take about one hour per destination, depending on the group size and desired locations. Field trip busing is offered to visit locations on the Approved Field Trip Destinations List. The County cannot reimburse for busing arranged through other companies or to other destinations.
