The Affordable Housing Coalition of Dakota County strives to maintain, improve and expand an integrated affordable housing system in Dakota County that is effective in meeting the needs of individuals who are homeless, lack adequate housing, or require support services to maintain housing.
To achieve its purpose, the coalition performs the following functions:
- Compiles data and documents unmet housing needs
- Does broad goal setting to identify unmet needs and priorities for investment and provides clear directions to funders and providers on the most critical needs
- Advocates for the maintenance, improvement and creation of affordable housing resources that meet the existing needs
- Fulfills oversight and advisory responsibilities for certain state and federal housing programs
- Works with other organizations, groups and individuals whose objectives are consistent with the coalition's mission
- Spreads community awareness of affordable housing issues in Dakota County
