The Children's Mental Health Local Advisory Council (LAC) promotes awareness and understanding of mental health. Although awareness of the biological basis of mental health conditions has increased, individuals experiencing these conditions may still encounter stigma or negative responses from others.
Membership
The members of the Children's Local Advisory Council for Children's Mental Health are representatives of the following areas:
- Parents
- Collaborative Representative
- Dakota County Children’s Mental Health Supervisor
- Previous Consumers of Children’s Mental Health Services
- School Professionals
- Mental Health Professionals
- Dakota County Community Probation Officer
- Youth members
- Dakota County Public Health Nurse
Vacancies
Our council is currently recruiting new members. Parents, caregivers, providers, youth and community members with an interest in children's mental health are encouraged to inquire.
Meetings
Second Monday of every month, from 4-5:30 p.m. No meeting in July.
Meetings are held virtually.
Term Length
We ask members to commit for at least one year, though longer participation is welcome.
