Dakota County Public Health partners with schools, businesses, and other organizations to decrease the spread of disease.
Public Health provides school nurses, child care providers and parents with support and education on the management and prevention of various infectious and communicable diseases.
This includes fact sheets from the Infectious Diseases in Childcare Settings and Schools manual maintained by the Hennepin County. The manual is designed to inform about specific infectious disease problems they may encounter.
Each fact sheet includes:
- Common symptoms
- Information on how the illness spreads and how long someone is contagious
- When to keep children home from school or daycare
- When to call the child's health care provider
- How to keep others from getting sick.
Fact sheets are available in English. Some are also available in Spanish, Somali and Hmong.
