Dakota County and the City of Burnsville are beginning a corridor study along McAndrews Road (County Road 38). The study will be from County Road 5 to Aldrich Avenue.
What is a corridor study?
Corridor studies look at current and future needs of a transportation corridor. We look at data and get input from the community to find ways to improve safety and mobility and meet transportation goals.
Any improvements identified would be considered for potential future construction projects. The county will fund and complete final design and construction of any improvements as part of a separate, future project.
The proposed corridor study will look to identify ways to:
- Improve safety and mobility for all users
- Identify non-motorized crossing enhancement opportunities
- Identify short and long-term improvements for the future
Tentative project timeline
Spring-summer 2024: Corridor study and community engagement
Summer 2024: Alternative concept development
Fall-winter 2024: Recommended improvements
There are no construction plans in 2024. The county will seek funding and make plans for construction in the future.
